DWP benefits run on separate helplines, and staff on one line usually cannot see another benefit's records, so the right number matters more here than anywhere else. Every claimant line below is a free 0800 number. Universal Credit is the exception to phoning: your online journal reaches your case manager directly and leaves a written record. For the rest, the queue pattern is consistent: quietest just after opening, worst on Monday mornings and around payment dates. Watch the short-hours lines too, since Maternity Allowance only answers 10am to 3pm.
