How we check numbers

A wrong number on this site wastes your time and possibly your money. So here is exactly where our numbers come from and how we keep them right.

Where every number comes from

Each number is copied from the official source: gov.uk for government departments, or the organisation's own official website for services like TV Licensing. We link that source on every page, next to the date we last checked it. If you ever want to verify a number yourself, the link is right there.

What the dates mean

"Checked on" means a person or an automated check compared our page against the official source on that date. Government departments do change numbers and opening hours, so if you spot a page with an old date, trust the gov.uk link over us.

What we will never do

  • List a premium-rate 084, 087 or 09 "connection service" number. Every number here is the official one, and most are free or standard rate.
  • Charge you to see a number, or make you click through pages of ads to reach it.
  • Pretend to be the organisation you are calling. We are an independent directory and we say so on every page.
